Girl guiding Agility Badge

Starting Brownies when
I was 7 years old and contuining into guides at 11 I enjoyed making friends, going on trips and being a sixer as part of the club. One of the first positions I had of leading a group was through girl guides where I was a Young Leader at 14 years old. I led activities for our Brownie pack, a lovely group of girls who were between 7-10 years old. I ran craft, sports and cooking activities whilst I was there. I was able to lead the agility badge each year. I created games and coached how to play a game of rounders. They had to learn about why and how we do warm ups before taking part in physical activity, learn how to skip with a skipping rope, create an aerobic exercise sequence, complete a training circuit and learn how to throw and catch a ball building up to playing a game e.g. rounders.
This was a great little position when I was 14-16 years old giving me valuable skills of communication, organisation and working in a team. I would encourage secondary school ages to get involved in volunteering through scouts/ guides or any other voluntary positions available.

I volunteered in a year 6 PE lesson where I worked with a small group of children to work on athletic activities which included speed bounce, standing long jump and 100m race.
